  19. Wiring the TNC to Archimedes lead. THIS may or MAY NOT APPLY TO ALL MODELS !
  20.  
  21. Some of the older Archimedes badged machines had real problems with the
  22. serial port then Acorn introduced the field change order mentioned below to
  23. correct this problem. If this change has not been carried out and you have
  24. problems then it may pay you to visit your dealer.
  25.  
  26. If the serial chip field order has been carried out on the
  27. A300 series - the Acorn reference is FCO-2003, (replacement of C65SC51
  28. serial chip) - then the connections below should work.

  44. * Some TNCs like the PK use pin 4 (RTS) for the handshake input, whereas
  45.   others like the BSX2 use pin 20 (DTR) instead. So, if you make up a cable
  46.   with RTS from the Micro connected to both 4 and 20 on the TNC, then it
  47.   should be suitable for any TNC you are likely to use.

  49. # This connection is not actually required all programs, but you may wish
  50.   to use it to preserve compatibility with all software. It is used by !Term93.

  52. ** On any TNC where the "Connect status" is not reflected by a pin on its rs
  53.    port it should be noted that some facilities in the program will not work
  54.    fully, the main effect is that commands to the tnc cannot be sent while
  55.    connected.

  61. This program reads the file "baudrate" to determin the baud rate, date bits,
  62. stop bits and parity your require, edit as required.
  63.  
  64. Edit line 1 to read your required baud rate           (9600, 1200 etc.).
  65. Edit line 2 to read your required number of bits      (normally 8).
  66. Edit line 3 to read your required number of stop bits (normally 1).
  67. Edit line 4 to read your required parity              (0=none)

  104. To run !YatFax click on the icon-bar icon with 'select' i.e. the left hand
  105. mouse button (assuming its tail is pointing away you !) or on Run.

  109. This program is single tasking only although it does install on the icon bar
  110. and leaves all other applications in limbo awaiting your return to the
  111. desktop.
  112.  
  113. The computer MUST have seen the !Pics application/picture store.
  114.

  117. To run !YatFax simply double click on its icon in the directory to install
  118. it on the icon bar, then select from the icon bar menu as described above.
  119.  
  120. The program operates in a mode 0 screen and the first selection is made from
  121. a menu by pressing 'T' to go to the terminal mode or 'F' to go to fac
  122. receive. The terminal section is very simple and does not have any save
  123. facilities etc.
  124.  
  125. Other options are :
  126. 'Q' return to the desktop saving the new picture number if any pictures have
  127. been saved. Charts are saved as "P1", "P2" etc. 
  128. 'L' return to the desktop not saving the picture number. 
  129. 'C' go to fax receive but do nothing until the designated time, this is
  130. probably of little use but i have left it in for now.
  131.  
  132. On selecting fax receive a further menu appears giving a choice of fax
  133. receive speeds and the best advice i can give here is to try and experiment
  134. with the various settings. Remember what i said about making a backup first.

  138. Comment.
  139.         The Kam All Mode does not use any grey shades, the icoming signal is
  140. sampled and a decision made as to whether the pixel is to be black or white
  141. so it is of little use for decent reception of 'real' pictures.
  142.  
  143. Remember that to receive fax from your H.F. receiver that the audio MUST be
  144. input to the kams V.H.F. port and NOT to the H.F. port, a circuit diagram is
  145. included inside !YatFax.
  146.  
  147. You may wish to edit the file !YatFax.defaults as MAXUSERS is set for fax
  148. receive and reset on exit, alter the exit value ONLY.

  152. Before commencing a receive session one good idea is to copy the !Pics
  153. application into a large as possible ram disc and then double click on it to
  154. let !YatFax know its new picture store address.

  158. During fax receive a number of options are available as follows.
  159.  
  160. (f = a function key)
  161.  
  162. f1      Return tnc to packet and go to first menu.
  163. f2      Not used.
  164. f3      invert the current screen(s) and invert receive.
  165. f4      Toggle the auto-save function.
  166. f5      Invert receive from now.
  167. f6      Save current screen(s). Used if the end of a picture comes part way
  168.         down a screen.
  169. f7      Clear the screen(s) and restart at top left.
  170. f8      Save the default settings. (Used at next run time).
  171. f9      A crude edge detect attempt.
  172. f10     This moves the entire picture from time of pressing f10 as follows.
  173.         Press f10
  174.         Move the pointer to the edge of the chart.
  175.         Click with menu.
  176.         (Do not delay this operation.)
  177. f11     Set foreground colour (use f8 to make permanent).
  178. f12     Set background colour (use f8 to make permanent).

  180. < or >  Skew the picture left or right.
  181.  
  182. 1 or 2  ON NUMERIC KEYBOARD ONLY. Press 1 or 2 to view the left or right
  183.         part of the received chart on double screen modes only.

  185. + or -  ON NUMERIC KEYBOARD ONLY. Press the + or - to increase the number of
  186.         picture lines overscanned (saved with other defaults ).

  213. it's going, this helps me if i get queries and with updates. Should you be a
  214. brill programmer and update/upgrade the program then ok but i get the first
  215. copy.
